An arid mining town in the desert borderlands of the Protectorate, known only as a place you don’t want to end up.
The salt caves atop which this tiny, fortified town is situated were once a place of worship for local Centaur tribes. The indigenous population all either killed or driven off, the caves are now under the control of the Protectorate, who are never short of ‘criminals’ willing to serve reduced sentences powering their ever-increasing mining operation.
As the export of the mineral is the only major industry, the town is entirely reliant on trade with other cities, otherwise lacking the resources necessary to feed its workforce. The last stop before the Wastes, the town attracts the usual suspects in the form of adventurers, roving traders and unsavoury backwater-types, but is otherwise not a destination chosen willingly by many; as its prior Lord Seeker was fond of saying, “District 13 has nothing to offer but salt, sand and slaves.”
